I recently located my long lost grandfather After 61 years and he sent me a letter advising me that he was born in Glen White West Viriginia.
I am trying to research more of my ancestry, so I am hopeful someone here may have some info. To start, my grandfather's name is Russell Lee Mann. My great grandFather was named McRae Mann born in Roanoke Virginia with his wife being named Thelma Mae Street, born in Otsego (sp) West Virginia. From what he wrote me, they worked the Coal Mines.
so if anyone has any info, etc., please post. I most appreciate it.
Unfortunately I don't really expect to get any more real communication from him, and the rest of the family over there appears to want to sweep this under the rug. But based on what he did provide, I want to at least explore this further.
Hi, maybe if you searched the records for Raleigh County WV, you may be able to find out something. Glen White is in Raleigh County. Searching Beckley WV may help you out also. There should be some records somewhere on here. Good Luck
Thanks for the info. I got to speak with him again, and he is more receptive to provide me with more information. I hope to provide a family tree breakdown for my mother with the information I am able to find out.
Google West Virginia geneaolgy and a link to all kinds of free information is there. This is how I found my family. I am in Oklahoma and had two names and now I have ten or twelve just from these sites. There is a wealth of West Virginia information out there that is free. No strings attached.
