OMG, for a Taco Bell?!? -- that's hilarious!! That DJ must have owned major stock in an anti-diarrhea company or something.

"..sorry but we don't support the devil's music so we can't sell this to you !!". Then why the bloody hell did they have such stuff in stock in the first place? Kinda reminds me of Leslie's Record Land also in Charles Town..well into the late 80's the onwer refused to sell cds..he really believed that the 45 would be making a comeback.

I also remember seeing the Mr. T flick "DC Cab" at the movie theatre in that plaza and I still remember that they had some very weird tasting popcorn. Golden Corral..my parents loved that place but to me as a child it seemed they were good one week, sucked the next, then back to being good..then back to being awful. I was only 14 at the time so I didn't have a choice.

Yep, if I remember correctly, there was a Radio Shack; Brothers Pizza; the movie theater; and I think the laundry has always been there. I don't remember how many screens the theater had, at least two? But it was a big deal because the theater in Ranson was either recently or soon to be demolished to make way for the new F&M Bank on the circle. The only other theater was in Charles Town and was owned by the same people that started the new operation at the Plaza. I remember walking to the theater in CT to see Vincent Price in The House of Wax 3D at sometime in the '80's.
Now we have 0. (and to bring this back on topic) We are hoping that at some point in the near future the original plans for a new movie theater in Ranson at the Potomac Towne Center will move forward.

Whatever reason was given for the 'cease' build on the movie theatres?
Granted, that there is one in Martinsburg. I guess Jefferson Countians can travel over the line into Berkeley as I suppose, alot of BC'rs do for Kohl's and Home Depot, etc...

I'm sure it was based on the best economic interest of the business. Our population growth here in the county ran into a wall several years ago and a large portion of the population has had to scale back on discretionary spending (or at least should have.)

If I go to see a movie in a theater, which is very rarely, the last being 'UP', I go to the locally owned theater at Berkeley Plaza.

The Potomac Towne Center isn't the only place where the "cease" to build theatres had taken place. It also happened in Winchester, Front Royal, Woodstock, Waynesboro ( VA ), Cumberland and I think Chambersburg (?) as all of those places were supposed to get new theatres within the last several years but other than Winchester's Alamo Draft House Cinemas..none of those theatres as of yet have became reality. I agree with "clintsullivan", maybe for most of those planned locations it was in the "best economic interest of the business
