I was actually able to read the whole article without paying (for some reason).

Last Saturday when we stopped at IHOP, see that there's a clearing of a large plot aside from IHOP's parking lot. Anyone know what might be going in there?

Default Major Tenant Announcement

Marshall's will be constructed in Potomac Towne Center and is scheduled for a late 2017 opening. This is excellent news for not only PTC, but all of Ranson. This is the first large tenant to come to the area in a while.

Valley Health also recently broke ground on a new medical center near Panera Bread.

That is good news for the area. Let's see if they can keep the momentum going.

That's great! I was getting a bit worried about this center. Everything seemed to halt completely during the Recession.

Does the former Bob Evans have a new tenant yet?

Hmm... KLNB never updated their marketing materials for Potomac Towne Center. That's usually how I find out about these things before the newspapers find out.

It appears that the Boulveard portion of the development is being actively marketed once again. I noticed two things on the updated site plan:

1. There is a proposed theater on this version, but it's along Fairfax Boulevard this time.

2. Lot H has a 36,000 square foot building on it with a very familiar shape. I'm certain that the building shown there is a Lidl (a German grocery store that is similar to Aldi, only larger). Lidl is making a push into the metro D.C. region, so Charles Town would be a natural fit.

Here is a link to the site: Properties - Detail — Segall Group

I really like what I'm seeing! The area where the theater is appears to put heavy emphasis on the streetscape and made to look like a downtown (referred to as New Urbanist). It would be great if some of those buildings had upscale rental apartments on top and retail/office properties on the ground floor.
