Just an FYI....the places under proposal for the PTC are still coming but they had signed leases mostly with the option to cancel if the Table Games proposal didn't pass. Golden COrral, the theatre (although a new chain I have heard), the "Jiffy Lube" place, Starbucks, and others are planned to begin shortly.

Also, as to the reason for Target, etal not coming. The response about the parking is 100% correct. The city of Ranson didn't agree with the some fifteen or so designs that Target and Co. came up with and since the companies knew they had another potential location they told the city that they were done for now and left. They may relook at some point but I highly doubt it.
You got to be kidding me.Target in Hagerstown is on its last legs and most likely will close in the summer.

Wonder if they'll ever put in a gas station somewhere around there?

Default Gas Station

Ranson does need a gas station. There is a Sheetz being built on 340 next to Aldi. They need to build one here either next to Panera Bread or behind the Jerry's Sub Shop.

"There is a Sheetz being built on 340 next to Aldi" ......

isn't that about two miles from the existing Sheetz on rt 340? that doesn't seem well thought out, unless the original Sheetz is going to close?

Good question though for right now I doubt the Sheetz on 340 will close only because it is so close to Charles Town Races & Slots. Building two of the same stores/restaurants within close distance really is common though many of times one location usually does end up closing. For example in Winchester...

*The Food Lion at Delco Plaza is only a ONE MILE from the Food Lion on Plesant Valley Road ( that store is closing ).

*For a time there were actually FOUR McDonalds located within a 3 block radius of each other. Pleasant Valley Road & Jubal Early Drive, Pleasant Valley Road in front of Martins Food, one inside the Apple Blossom Mall plus one in the Walmart. Two of those locations have since closed.

*Waffle House had a location on Route 50 and I-81 and one WITHIN SIGHT..on Pleasant Valley Road. Only the latter is still open.

Of course in Winchester/Frederick County's case its politics. Since neither is allowed to share sales tax money with each other and with so much money Winchester was making from Target & Lowes, Frederick County felt the need to have their own Target and Lowes and thats what they got. Of course I have heard others say its "..all about community pride, county folks want to shop in the county and not the city" but I don't really buy that though. However maybe its the case here. Charles Town has a Sheetz so now Ranson wants one too?

So there isn't going to be a Target at PTC now?

I don't think so. I think Charles Town/Ranson is definetly a growing area, but not enough to support a Target, plus once Route 9 is finished, you'll be able to get to the one in Martinsburg easily within ten minutes. -mmccul

I didn't catch that in venture2000's post above ..... I didn't realize that Aldi was considered part of Ranson. Ranson seems to be amoeba-like to me .... it doesn't seem to have defined city lines! I would have thought that the Aldi store out on Rt340 was part of Charles Town.

I was on google maps the other day, and I noticed in front of PTC ,on street view, that going south on the high way it just showed the Rite Aid and Bob Evans, but going north it showed both plus a McDs, chickfilet, and some small strip mall. Whats up with that???

As of now, what is located on that side of the road???
