I remember a thread a while back discussing snakes. I received these photos today from a friend in St. Augustine Fl. showing a rattlesnake captured at the Outlet Mall there. It's purported as being 15 feet long!! Check the size of the fangs as compared to the pocket knife!!!

I found a link to the article. Says the snake was 7 feet, 3 inches long.

That sounds a LOT more believable!! I was thinking the camera angle and relative position of the snake to the background subjects made it look a lot larger!! Still.... a big reptile to be captured that close to civilization tho'.

You know, I actually have a soft spot for them- especially ones that lived that long. Sad that he couldn't be relocated, and allowed to continue his life.
Snakes get a bad rap. I think they're the only creature that is instantly reviled, and killed on sight. They would much rather escape at the soonest opportunity, and only bite when they are stepped on or provoked. Here's a picture of a Water Moccasin (aka Cotton Mouth) I relocated. Kids found him by their trampoline (back in Virginia Beach). He never tried to strike at me, even when I gently poked him to get him into the bucket.

Please excuse my unintentional moment of thoughtfulness on the matter, but where in WV exactly, are palm trees growing and police cars donning the same insignia as Florida cruisers? http://www.co.st-johns.fl.us/ Nice try, but some of us are very familiar with WV counties.

I smell spam.

Now wait... Retired Navy clearly said that the pictures came from a friend in St. Augustine FL. I don't think there was any intent to pass the pics off as having been taken in WV.

Just another reason to avoid Florida, to my way of thinking. Saw a news story the other day about somebody down there who reached under his car to pull his dog out from under it, and got a five foot gator instead.

I stand corrected. My bad. My humblest apologies offered.
