I just returned home to Clarksburg for the holidays and stopped first in Smithfield, PA to visit a friend.

I noticed coming down Rte. 119 (Point Marion Road) that the welcome sign to West Virginia is missing! The only sign indicating West Virginia is the Monongalia County sign.

I haven't been that way in years, but I think there also used to be a Mon Valley Watershed sign right after the Welcome to Wild, Wonderful West Virginia sign.

Just an observation.....But you would think there would be a sign there indicating a different state. Maybe when the motto was changed back from Open for Business to Wild, Wonderful the sign wasn't replaced...just a theory.

(Just a side thought...I looked in my rearview mirror and Pennsylvania has big and very nice welcome sign! But that gasoline station on the PA border is closed down.)

Why is the USA broken up in to 50 states? What would our country be like if we didn't differentiate regions with boundaries, other than the physical ones like rivers and mountains?

I'll tell you exactly how it would pan out, pretty much like it now, the cities would be a mess with the rest of the country footing the bill.

Ask Senator McCabe about metro government. People didn't even like the idea of merging city and county.

That sign just might be located in the reception hallway of a local frat house....

and Metro Government? or at least county zoning or a version of building control....

It's coming under a FEMA program in conjunction with Homeland Security...

Seems that no building in Mon County will be allowed unless permited by FEMA....

How's that for a local dose of socialism...an end run around the people who dislike the idea of having to be told what they can do and when...

I'm hoping that someone is keeping a record of these disenfranchisements...

When the people return the government and cast out the Obamination of Desolation in 36 short months, we can return the government to normalcy.
