Seems my wife has relatives that she has never met in the state. We both are deaf and discovered by chance due to her interest in genealogy that one of her ancestors..great great great grandfather...was a stonemason and helped build the school. We contacted the school and asked them if they knew which building he helped build...naturally they couldn't answer since it happened so long time ago but they did invite us to go and visit when we were able to do so.

Are there any records or places where we could obtain more accurate info? Thank you.

Try the West Virginia state archives....West Virginia State Archives

Unless you want to personally dig through documents, there's a small fee to have a researcher look into something for you. Also, the muesuem in the basement of the Cultural Center is well worth the trip. It was redone recently and is phenomenal (and free!).

You also might contact the main branch of Hampshire county library. They may have a geneological section in one of the libraries that might have some information.
