Did you see a socialist utopia in Poland last summer? Do you see immigrants flocking at the gates, waiting to get in?

You're young; move to a foreign country and work on their local economy. Nothing I can type will have the same result as the cold, hard slap of that reality.

I made that very same suggestion to you, "move to a location where your values more closely parallel the community" and you chastised me for it.

Poland isn't socialist...... they're capitalist. Even when they were a satellite country they were more capitalist than the others, Stalin allowed them to continue owning private property and business out of fear of complete revolt and rebellion that he quite frankly just didn't want to deal with. But their economy was running sadly running circles around West Virginia's. I would hate to leave America permanently. I love America, I'm a capitalist all the way! I believe in entrepreneurism and the American dream. I also just happen to believe that people have a right to be healthy, equal rights, etc

You desire equal out comes without equal effort. Why should anyone have to pay your way through life? Why am I responsible for you? Well considering that they are below sea level and they aren't conducting board meetings at the bottom of the ocean I think speaks volumes. They have irrigated the ground by routing the water into terraces via wind power. Seems pretty ingenious to me. Their medical professionals are also some of the best and brightest in the world. So I think they are doing a good job of educating their college students.

Flat out refusing educational funding is the worst thing an area, county, state or country can do to its economy. Education is investment in the citizens which in turn will bring prosperity. Well known fact in both the education and geography world. Seems like a good idea, and considering my education has cost about $40,000 so far a free or reduced cost of education would be nice. Especially considering some of my friends have 60,000 - 100,000 in students loans, for jobs that will pay 45,000 a year starting out if they're lucky. Try paying that in addition to rent/mortgage, bills, car insurance, supporting your family etc It's rough!

GHO--It's pretty well established that you and I disagree on several issues. Nonetheless, this is a sincere post, posing a genuine question, with absolutely no ill will or malice intended: Would you consider yourself to be fiscally conservative (or moderate / right leaning) and socially liberal?

ha ha ha....GHO is a Regan Conservative...in process, I'll admit...but true blue conservative..he's on his way...and will turn out just like his grandpa....ha ha ha....

Help business with tax relief to create wealth...enable those businesses to hire more workers and pay higher wages/salarys...spread the wealth with production bonuses and benefit packages...enable the business to expand...means more of everything for everyone...

What is wrong with this equation?...it worked through both Bushes and Clinton.

Are these correct business principles to anti-communist for the Obama Troika?

They had this country in high gear for about 20 years...every since Jimmy Peanut.

And whatever happened to the Ozone...did it vanish????....

You're kidding, right? You mean besides some of the best architects in the world? Or how about the Dutch engineers that were brought in to repair and improve the levee system in New Orleans? Ever heard of that little Dutch company, Phillips? Shell? Certainly no top educated Dutch engineers/mathematicians working there. Guess you've never heard about the Delta Works?

Considering the Netherlands is about twice the size of New Jersey, it has 9 universities ranked in the world rankings, one of which is one of the oldest western universities in the world. Erasmus in Rotterdam boasts one of the best business programs in the world, and TU Delft is one of the best schools in the world for technology.

Tuition is not free, but it's extremely affordable and each Dutch student receives a living stipend from the government and free public transportation. What a shame the Netherlands allows equal opportunity for higher education for everyone. It's horrible living in a place with such an educated populace!

As for a society of lazyiness or "leeches" ? The Netherlands consistently has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the world and has an incredibly large, prosperous economy for it's small size and population.

Amazing how uninformed some people are.

World's Best Universities: Top 200 - US News and World Report

All the way down to #49 to find anything in Holland. You'll notice that just about every one of the top universities are in the US. Using terminology like "one of the top", and "some of the best" are ambiguous at best and demonstrate the poverty of your post.

For unemployment numbers, they don't even fall in the top 10.
1. Andorra <0%
2. Monaco 0%
3. Qatar 0.6%
4. Azerbaijan 0.8%
5. Guernsey 0.9%
6. Uzbekistan 0.9%
7. Thailand 1.2%
8. Faroe Islands 1.4%
9. Isle of Man 1.5%
10. Liechtenstein 1.5%

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a bad place, I've been there. I enjoyed it. However, if I lived there, and earned the income I make here in the states, I would be paying 52% income tax. I'm of the school of thought that if I bust my a$$ to get ahead in life, I don't "owe" the fruits of my labor to anyone but myself and my family.

France and Great Britian don't call themselves Socialist either. They certainly aren't capitalist, and neither is Poland, for that matter neither are we-- and we're getting further from it under Obama. Taking over the banking industry, the mortgage industry, automobile manufacturing and health care industry are directly opposed to capitalism. If you support that system, you support socialism, bordering on totalitarianism.

Capitalism: Economic system characterized by the following: private property ownership exists; individuals and companies are allowed to compete for their own economic gain; and free market forces determine the prices of goods and services. Such a system is based on the premise of separating the state and business activities. Capitalists believe that markets are efficient and should thus function without interference, and the role of the state is to regulate and protect.

You cannot claim to be a capitalist if you agree that you (or others) have an entitlement to others earnings to support your education, healthcare, or employment.

They can be healthy by eating right and exercising. They need no government run program for that. They have no "right" to it. By making poor dietary choices, career/educational decisions, and family size decisions, they do not incur the "right" to my assets to bail them out of their own ignorance and poor decision making.
Make certain you don't continue to use "rights" and "privileges" as interchangable when refering to "equal rights".
