Does anyone knows how many of West Virginian people are native West Virginian ? ( I don't mean Indian Americans! or they will be only one who is native !!)

I mean that their Grand Grand fathers were West Virginian ?
(they had not came to WV from other states or other countries for example in 1900 )
or if I explain it in other way for example in year 2100 how many of WV people's grand parents are now in WV !!??!? (did u got it ?!)

That's a difficult question...I would say many of them.

If you tabulated the census records you could get a pretty good count.

While there's been considerable emigration from WV ("Hillbilly Highway", etc.), there's been relatively little immigration.

On my father's side, you have to go back earlier than 1850 to find a non-WV birthplace; on my mother's side back to before 1900.

There's probably a government statistic on it someplace.

Before 1863, we would be Virginians....prior to 1776, English. (gives me a headache to even think that)

Good point, DK. I guess prior to 1863, it would be impossible to find a WV birthplace. (Reminds me, sesquicentennial coming up in a few years.)

I should have written "birthplaces in what is now WV".

As to English, to the Amish we're all "English".

Our family goes back pretty far. But I'm not sure as to what the exact statistics are.

The American Indian could not be a "native West Virginian" They were here before the United states was created.

On my mom's side of the family,my great-great grandparents came over from Europe when many immigrants were coming over to work in the coal mines in WV and PA (around 1880s or 1890s). Many immigrants came to the state (mostly in the Morgantown-Fairmont-Clarksburg areas and southern parts of the state--Beckley and points south) in the period 1880s-1920s.Since that time, immigration to WV is much lower than many other states such as Texas,Georgia,Florida--Sunbelt areas.
