New ghost towns: Industrial communities teeter on the edge - USATODAY.com

Quote:
Ravenswood, with 4,000 people and one big factory, is like many towns in the USA where things still are made: caught in a winter between recession and recovery, hoping the latter will arrive before the former kills the last decent blue-collar job.

for Ravenswood, the future is the same as Clendenin's!!!

big time employing industry moves out, so does the people and business

clendenin had the Elk Refinery, which employed hundreds

when that left, plus the interstate bipassed the town by two miles, everything died

Clendenin used to be an awsome place, or so I heard----LOL

That's what some of my Jackson County family have been saying as well. Apparently the price of aluminum has risen and sustained at that level long enough to draw some interest.
