This is a sorta spin-off of the tygart lake thread. Any suggestions for places to swim this summer around here? Eastern Panhandle, Winchester, Hagerstown or other neighboring areas. Lakes, Pools, Rivers, Parks, etc. Kid friendly would be great (Dog friendly would be great too, but that's probably too much to hope for). Thanks!

hmmm .... i'd probably pick somewhere along the potomac or shenandoah rivers before i'd consider sleepy creek lake. i've been going there for years and have never seen/heard of someone swimming there. there used to be a swimming area at cacapon state park near berkeley springs and there is a community pool at jefferson park in charles town. hope that this helps.

Two nice places exist in the Big Bend area of Smokehole but the water may be a little chilly just now.

Great place for a day trip or several days of wilderness camping, fishing and hiking.
