I would love to take a trip via Amtrak in Connellsville, but cannot figure out how to get there! I either need a SECURE place to park my car there or some reasonable ($) form of transportation from Morgantown to the Amtrak depot in Connellsville. Any help would be appreciated. Trip is not currently planned but would be if I knew how!
As far as I know, there's no secure parking in Connellsville (although I'm not quite sure what would constitute secure parking).
The Capitol Limited also stops in Pittsburgh. Probably your best bet is Grey-Line Bus from Morgantown to the Amtrak station in downtown Pittsburgh. There was a post on here in the last few weeks about Grey-Line increasing the frequency of their service from once to twice daily.
Perhaps Cumberland would be an option - we've left a car parked for days on the street near the Amtrak station, unmolested. The train passes both ways at more normal times of day than in Connellsville too.
I believe you could park your car in a Morgantown city parking garage and take the Gray Line to the Pittsburgh Amtrak station. There is a garage within easy walking distance to the Gray Line departure point in downtown Morgantown. You would want to check the parking rates as I am not sure about those.
