I have only been in the area for less than 5 years, and am trying to find a decent place to board a horse (don`t have one yet, just starting the process of shopping around for one) that won`t cost me an arm and a leg. (I know, good luck, right? lol)

Any suggestions?

Buy a place to live where you can keep your horse. It will be cheaper in the long run.

Default Have a "horse farm" in Charles Town

Hi Toomie,

Have you had any success in your search?

We recently purchased a 7 acre farmette in Charles Town with a six-stall horse barn and a bunch of fenced pasture, and we've thought it would be nice if we could rent out the barn and pasture so some folks with horses. However, the fences need some repair and we need to get the pastures cleaned up a bit (they're rather overgrown), so that doesn't help you right at the moment.

But, I am very interested to hear what you find out as you continue exploring this--what rates do you find? I'm hearing anywhere from $100 to $500/month, depending on how fancy the place is. I'm eager to hear feedback from folks in the area on what they expect when they're looking for a place to board their horses, and what they consider a fair price. We're going to have to put some money into this farm to get it ready for horses, and we'd like to have a complete picture of what opportunities that money is going to create for us and for local horse owners.
