Does anyone know if your car insurance provider can raise your insurance or charge a deductible if you hit a coyote? I know they can't for deer collisions, but I'm not sure about a coyote??? I was driving up to Elkins on Thursday for a weekend trip up to NYC and I hit one on the Lewis/Upshur county line on Corridor H. There is at least 5K+ worth of damage on my Passat and I have a 1K deductible... so I'm hoping its the same protocol as a deer collision.

The bottom grill is just gone, transmission coils are bent, silver grill is cracked, something is wrong with the wheel, etc ... ughhhh

I didn't even realize there was a deductible exception for deer.

It should be the same as a deer - hitting an animal is a Comprehensive claim. Disclaimer - every company is different!

I hit two deer in high school with my Jeep, about 3k each. We have a 1K deductible for all claims (my car accidents) but Nationwide didn't charge them for deer collisions. I thought this was uniform for all companies in WV???

Why tell them it was a coyote ? Were they there when it happened ? Are they going to
pull DNA off of your grille and analyze it to determine what sort of mammal you hit ? Tell 'em
the deer lost it's footing and fell to the pavement before you hit it.

Those Speeding tickets, age, wrecks...and everything else make up a profile composite that determines your accident rating.

The piper will be paid, Cody.

Want a 'big fat rate..have a couple of dui's.

Those ratings will fall out of the equation in time...long time...

congrats on ending the school year.

My agent told me that a comprehensive claim, animal strike or glass breakage, was not a chargeable claim and didn't count count towards figuring future rate increases.
