Commute to Mahwah? Suggestions for where to live? (White Plains, New Haven: best, job)

Hello, I will probably be taking a job in Mahwah, NJ and my boyfriend will be taking a job in New Haven, CT. I can only handle about a 45 minute commute to work.... any suggestions for where to live? I was looking at possibly White Plains, NY? I have no idea of the traffic patterns.... any advice would be appreciated.

White Plains is the best choice. I would say it is a straight shot on 287 westbound, and you should get to Mahwah within 45 minutes. New Haven will be about an hour from White plains (maybe 1 hour 15). For him he can hit the hutch to the merritt all the way to new haven. Also coming back, he wont hit the major bottleneck on the Hutch, which comes in around the 287 exit.
