We are re-locating next year to westchester, but haven't figured out wich town would be best for us. We have a 4 y/old with autism and a school district with a good in-home program is priority ( starting kindergarten next year) we also have a "typicall" 7 y/old and want a good friendly school for her. We would have to drive everyday to bronx my husband business is there so we don't want to be that far out. budget around 850K. thanks for your comments.

We have a 3 year with autism (and two typical three year olds as well) and Ardsley is known to have the best program for kids on the Spectrum in the county. Eastchester is also known to have great special needs programs.

I concur that Ardsley and Eastchester are known for their excellent special needs program. A friend of mine viewed the self-contained kindergarten programs in Mamaroneck, Rye Brook & Rye and favored the Eastchester program over these three. Another friend had her two sons in Ardsley and loved it, but moved them to Pleasantville so they could be closer to her home in upper Westchester. She has been very happy with Pleasantville except for the fact that no longer offer their summer program. Arsdley, Eastchester & Pleasantville are also known for very good typical classrooms as well.

Most districts are very good at the CPSE level (ages 3-4) so its hard to go wrong there. It's the kindergarten level that schools districts start to look different. Mamaroneck does not offer an integrated kindergarten, but will give aid support to those who need it. Rye Neck does not have a self-contained classroom, but does have a 1/2 day integrated program that they combine with 1/2 day typical. For those who need self contained, you must go out of district. (with preference to Rye, Mamaroneck or Rye Brook). Not sure what Pelham offers for kindergarten, but I know people happy with CPSE.
