In lower Westchester...

I need to replace two bathrooms and I'm astonished at the range of estimates I'm getting from contractors. I'm not looking for anything fancy, no wood-paneled, marble-topped, five person bathtubs with water jets...just a basic bathroom.

So far I've been quoted $6000 per bathroom to $16,000 per bathroom. Anyone else replacing a bathroom? What kinds of prices are you being quoted? How did you find a contractor you trusted?

Pm me the name of the person who gave you the 6k quote.

These contractors live in Westchester too and have big bills too. Everything is more expensive here. Quotes to repave my driveway range from $1500 to $3900. I pay $200 to clean my gutters. My dad in FL paid $250 for new gutters!

Best move it to suck it up, watch a few HGTV shows and do it yourself.

Take a hammer, start taking down walls, breaking tiles dismantling the tub and vanity. You haven't given the size of your bathroom and details ie: tile work? 2 sinks? skylight? new shower faucets?

For a 5x6 I was charged $2500. I bought all material including tiles, Jacuzzi, faucets. ect. $2500 was for labor.

I was quoted $2000 just to install a tub and shower faucet. So $6000 seems in line with that for tub, faucet, toilet, sink and tiles. I wouldnt skimp on an unlicensed plumber who will send an illegal alien to your house to do the work though. It might be better to get a guy who charged $8000 but has insurance.

I just had a bathroom redone-I think it was about 7k excluding all materials except the tub-so I think the total came to a little under 10k for the entire remodel. This was not a fancy bathroom either. Just the basics. Yes-there can be quite a discrepany in prices
