Where to live ? (New Rochelle, White Plains, Larchmont: rent, safe area, safe)

I have an offer in midtown (59th & park ave) . Where should I live if I want :
1) preferably less than 50min commute
2) preferably less than 2000 rent for 2br
3) safe area.
I don't mind NJ or NY .
Is it possible to have these at all ?

Hmmmmm...I'm thinking of Westchester - like in Larchmont or nearer. Other than that, you're really looking at a longer commute, unless you go to Queens or Brooklyn - but there getting a 2 BR is going to be tough on your budget...How about White Plains?

All of these get you to Grand Central Station at 42nd St. You could think about NJ, but that commute leaves you on the West Side...not idea.

Take a look at New Rochelle. 30 min commute by train. But nice 2br will be around $2500.
