Hi All,
I am a support worker in the UK. I support a lady (62) and her son (21) who are both US citizens and have lived in the UK for the past 16 years having relocated with her British husband. (Her husband died a few years ago)
She is desperately unhappy in the UK and wants to return to the US. Her son has mental health issues and is dependent upon her. She has expressed a wish to return to NY State (New Rochelle Westchester County) She is currently receiving a state pension from both the UK and the US, and full housing benefit. Her son receives Incapacity benefit.
How would we access housing and benefits in the US, and what if any would those benefits be?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
