Thinking of Moving to Hastings on Hudson (Hastings-on-Hudson: salons, condo)

My husband and I are thinking of buying a condo or co-op in westchester. We were looking at Hastings-on-Hudson. We both work in the city and the commute seems reasonable. I was wondering if anyone lived there and could give me an idea of how it is. Any information would be a great help. Thank you.

What the town is like. Are there any stores or shopping around there? I was just wondering if it was a nice place to live.

I lived there practially my whole life. It's a small town, but it's really pretty. They have stores along Warburton, Main street, and Spring street. Some of the stores include salons ( we have about 3 of them plus 1 barber), Hastings Stationery, Center Resturant, about 2 delis, and a few clothing stores. The town is really nice and has great schools ( I went all the way through Hastings schools and I felt I got a good education). It is also 30 min north of the city. I loved where I grew up. It can be boring at times, but there is always the train into the city. That's what my friends and I always do.
