For the cost of the monthly ticket and the monthly cab bill, you could lease a car and pay for the gas. I know its not optimal, but its a wash moneywise. The train is $225 per month. Taxi is 6-8 each way if you are in town, so thats about 300 more per month assuming 22 work days per month. Thats $550 in commuting costs. You can lease a decent car that gets good fuel economy for $200 per month and will have $300 per month for gas and still have $50 per month for parkign and oil changes ...
