I was wondering how far it is from HPN (White Plains Airport) to the closest subway, going to New York City? Is it within walking distance? We will be coming from San Antonio, TX.

Thanks,
Sandra

HPN is a good 15 miles north of the Bronx line, where the subways begin. You are relatively close to Metro North commuter rail, but not walking distance. Nearby stations would be Port Chester on the New Haven line and North White Plains on the Harlem Line (though you'd be better off going one town further into the White Plains city station which has a lot more trains, and some expresses into Grand Central).

Unfortunately, there are no subway stations near the airport.

In order to get to NYC, you would have to start out taking the BL-12 bus to White Plains. From there, you have 2 options:

Option 1: Take the BL-20 or BL-21 bus to The Bronx and take either the B, D, or 4 trains into Manhattan.

Option 2: Take the Metro-North Harlem Line) directly into Manhattan.

See the Westchester Bus Map:

Schedules are available here:

Good luck!

Remember: no buses serve the airport on Sundays.

yoou better be comming in on a weekday between 6am and 6pm If you are there is a bus called the 12 takes you direct to the train station well metro-north to be exact at white plains buy your ticket before boarding then welcome to NYC and the subway. PM me for maps so I can be of further assistance click here http://transportation.westchestergov...temMap2010.pdf and here http://transportation.westchestergov..._timetable.pdf

Once you get on the 12 then you are fine cause after getting to the train its smooth sailing from there grand central connects to many subways. there is all the info u need and no the airport is NOT within walking distance of the closest train station to new york city hence why you have to take a bus called the 12 to get to the train station. The trains up there are railroad but they take u to grand central to reach the subway. What time will you arrive??? If the 12 schedule doesn't work for u then ur ****ed!!!!!
