Ok ok, I know the taxes are higher in westcheter. But really sell me on westchester, why would you choose westchester over rockland, or vice versa. Thanks for any input!

Besides a monstrous commute if you work in NYC? Otherwise, the schools are excellent here and the population more educated I would guess. I don't know much about Rockland but don't get the sense that the majority of its residents commute to NYC daily. If you don't, by all means save your money and move there, though.

Rockland has lower living costs and a SUPERIOR bus network thats everywhere. The TOR lines alternate with the red and tan they are everywhere. The problem is clarksburg whose rtes are actually the weakest there is no incentive to live in northern westchester none go to rockland hon. At rush hour buses throughout the county run frequently I know from experience the funny part is you will only need a car for travel to westchester as there is monsey to orange and buses to northern NJ and trains also. I wonder why those folk even drive(other than heading to westchester)??? However the transit is FAR from perfect

Anytime you put a bridge between you and your commute you are asking for trouble.

Exactly! Rockland is great if you also work there, or anywhere on the west side of the Hudson (i.e. Orange County, or NJ), but it's a PITA to commute to Westchester, CT, or NYC. People who live there and do the rough commute have simply decided it is a tradeoff for cheaper housing. I know a guy at my day job on the days I am in Stamford who commutes there from Suffern and he only does it because he is p/t and retired and not there 5 days/week but wouldn't do the commute if it were daily and during rush hour (his hours are roughly 7am-3pm).
