That's a pretty nice part of Croton. Parts of that road are walking distance to the Upper Village and/or to the Croton Landing Park on the river--other parts are probably too far to walk, but a very short drive. Its a quick drive to the train station and to local shopping. As for community, Croton is pretty diverse socio-economically, with a long history of having both a working/middle class community and a more affluent (and liberal) community. I'd say both are still very healthy in town. We have plenty of friends in Croton and enjoy going there pretty often. It has a handful of good restaurants, a great gourmet food store, a nice coffee house, and a limited but ok range of other shopping. There are some big box stores and chains in town, and through the town is low on cultural amenities pretty much everything you need is within a 15 minute drive in one direction or another.
