Fleetwood is a really charming and diverse community. Readily affordable for those just starting families. Like Park Slope in the early days in terms of vibe. Not a great school district when it comes to Middle School onward but elementary is fine. And heck, you can buy a 2-bedroom pre-war for well under 200K - Moderator cut: Advertising on the forum is prohibited.

Tuckahoe
Similarities: Convenient commute to NYC; racial demographics; good schools; socioeconomics

If I had to pick, I think one of the closest could be Tarrytown.

Having lived in both places I would have to say Larchmont.

When you're a parent, all this BS means nothing. Pick a town, any town. Your life will suck either way.

Not really that close but Garth Road in Eastchester/Scarsdale P.O. --lots of very nice prewar apartment buildings. Certainly no brownstones.

Same alternate reality universes as Larchmont = Park slope and Fleetwood = Park Slope.
