I was hoping to move to Brooklyn - I'm trying to find the Brooklyn version of Rye. I especially would like somewhere to berth my yacht, blue ribbon schools, and a good dollop of fresh air.

Many Park Slope families move to New Jersey in areas like Montclair, South Orange, Maplewood. Real estate agents used to run buses from park slope to montclair for prospective buyers. Most of the people living there are ex-nycers.
The houses in those towns are absolutely fabulous. Great housing stock: victorian, tudors, colonial. All well kept. You will be surprised.

Park Slope is somewhat unique to New York City. Perhaps someplace in Chicago or San Francisco is like Park Slope. No place in Westchester.

Somewhat related to the OP, does anyone know of a good neighborhood in Westchester like midtown Manhattan?
