I'm looking at a job opportunity in Weehawken and am worried about the commute from the Edgewood area of Scarsdale. Does anyone here do it? I'm assuming driving is best. If so, what route is fastest- Lincoln Tunnel or GWB? How long is that commute during rush hour, say 8am?
What about the Metro North to the Ferry? Is that an option?
You would have to be crazy to try and take the GWB or Lincoln tunnel at 8 am. Driving into Manhattan on a weekday morning??? Crazy.
The only reasonable option for getting over the Hudson is the Tappan Zee, which from Scarsdale is fairly easy to get to (287). After that I don't know.
I would not take the job. There is no easy or direct route to Weehawken from 287. You would have to take the Garden State Parkway from 287 in Rockland, and then from there suffer with the HORRENDOUS morning traffic to get into Weehawken in the morning (along with every morning commuter trying to get through the Lincoln Tunnel). You could try taking the Palisades Parkway and then I-95, but then you'd still have to take Route 3 into Weekhawken. Traffic going in or out of the tunnels during rush hour is never good.
You could take MetroNorth to GCS, then take the shuttle to take a ferry to Weehawken. That would be annoying, but do-able. But you'd have to be able to get off at your job in Weehawken, otherwise you then need to get on a bus. And then you have to do it all over again to get home.
I mean, unless this is your dream job... But some things just aren't worth it in my book!
