Ya know, when I was a kid I was taught this was the home of the brave. Today, I look around and everyone is so divided. Even trying to get your neighbor to wave back to you is to no avail. Too many folks are too busy bickering over Democrat vs Republican nonsense. The founding fathers hated factions and political parties because they saw them as creating divisions amongst the people and having alterior motives outside of representing the people.

The apathy has to stop. To be American is to speak the truth and to rally others for the greater good. The fact is, we're the spoiled brats of descendants who worked and fought hard. But it doesn't need to be that way.

So what happened? How did we get here? I look around and everyone has this miserable smug look on their face. Ill tell you my theory. Materialism has run rampant through our population and instead of trying to make others happy, we have become obsessed with making ourselves happy. I love individualism, dont get me wrong, but at some point it has to be about the greater good and not what is best for each individual.

We watch the 5 oclock news and see nothing but bad news to the point that we think everyone else is a lunatic. So the divisions amongst the population increase further. Congress seems like a distant body that represents its own party's interest instead of the general interests of its constituents.

Whatever the problems we may have in this country, my loyalty is with the American people. For all our differences I will tell you that I LOVE ALL OF YOU!

Does this "greater good" entail giving up the hard earned product of one's own work for the benefit of the inept?
