Are there any towns in the Westchester area with highly ranked school systems and notable Italian-American populations? I looked at Rye Brook, but I heard it might be a tad uninviting for non-Jews, is this true?
You can consider West Harrison, Eastchester and Pelham. The first two have a heavily Italian American population, and Pelham doesn't seem dominated by any one culture, but may fit what you are looking for. It a nice mix of cultures; Italian American, Irish-American.
Trying to think of any others. Maybe Hawthorne/Thornwood???
Yes, Yorktown too. I know quite a few people that moved there and many of their friends that they made there as well as themselves are Italian American. It is the furthest North though out of the ones we have mentioned so far. Not as convenient to the city, shopping etc. as the others since they are lower in Westchester.

Eastchester has a great Italian-American population. I'm Italian-American and I have a number of Italian-American friends who live in Eastchester and swear by the schools there. There's a significant Italian-American population in Pelham as well, but the taxes are sky high there (much more so than Eastchester). Good luck with the search.
Harrison Schools doesn't offer Italian language education which is what I am looking for, and I've heard bad things about Eastchester schools, is that true?
Pelham seems nice, but would you say its proximity to dangerous neighborhoods like the Bronx and Mt Vernon and two highways might make it a bit unsafe?
Dobbs Ferry! At least half the teachers' names are Italian. There is some Italian language instruction, though I'm not sure which grades. Couldn't be happier with the schools so far - we just arrived earlier this year. Lots of Italian Americans in Dobbs and even a few Italian Italians. Drop in to Cafe Latte and have a chat with Basilio.

See my previous post. Eastchester schools are great. Don't know what you have heard but I have 2 kids in the schools and we could not be happier.
