Hi,

Looking for a moving company to helpus with our move. Called Allied and were told they are too busy and can't do the job(???). Called Collins Brothers tand were told they would call us back. Called VanLines and were told they would call back. No one calls us back and it has been about two weeks. We were just wondering what companies people have used and how was the service. It seems we can't even get anyone to come and give us an estimate. Didn't think it would be such an issue! It is really frustrating and would appreciate any feedback anyone can provide. Thanks

Collins Bros called me right back... Can you call them again? I see their trucks all over. They are coming to give us an estimate next week.

Arthur Werner are coming to give us a quote also. I don't know about cost, but I would prefer them because you can use their plastic, re-usable boxes, so no tape and so cardboard to break down and get rid of. Man, just breaking down all the boxes at the end really sucks.

I used OZ Moving quite a while ago, and they were good.

This is going back a number of years, but when my parents moved from Rye Brook to Florida they used Clancy United Van Lines and they had a good experience with them. My parents even had them do some of the packing for them. Even though they're based in Patterson, NY (Dutchess county), they came to the house and gave a free estimate, and had a reasonable price for the move.

Here's a link to their website if you want to get an estimate from them: Clancy Moving: Trusted NY Movers from Westchester NY to Stamford CT | clancymoving.com | clancy
Remember, though, that this is the busiest time of the year for movers, so I can understand why some might not get back to you right away or might not be able to do your move at this time.

We had a great experience with Arthur Werner when we moved - also got quotes from Oz and Collins - Collins' estimate was double the others. I have recently heard good things about Shleppers, but don't have first hand experience with them. In any case, ask each potential mover for a "guaranteed not to exceed" quote, which they will honor even if they go over their own estimate.
