My son is 5 years old and he has been interested in chess for almost 2 years now. He knows the rules of the game very well and we play chess at home and/or do some chess puzzles. I was wondering if there are any chess clubs/camps etc that are in westchester of which he can be a part of and play games with kids his age. Any ideas or pointers? There is a school of thought that only older kids (around 11 onwards) can play and master the game. That said, at this age, we would like to encourage him and keep him playing for fun. And what better way than to play with other kids on a regular basis ? Thanks for any help.

We have an iPad app that we tried once to play with others. Not very good. Most of the time, a couple of moves and nothing happens after that. Any other websites to play with kids online? Also, it would be nice to have a real experience rather than a virtual one, for somebody this age? The comradarie of playing with other kids...

You can try here and see if it is something that might interest you. Click on where it says " classes ", when you get into the website. Your son may be a wee bit too young- looks like start at grade 1. It also might be too competitive, but for you to decide

There's one in the city if you want to take a drive down on the weekends.
