Hey, we may be moving shortly to Pelham or Larchmont, and I've never commuted from there before.
(1) Because they're toward the end of the suburban part of the rail lines, is it realistic to get a seat in the morning rush-hour commute? I'm trying to picture how miserable or pleasant it might be.
(2) Assuming the waitlists for the parking lots by the train station are years long and we don't get a house within walking distance, is street parking allowed anywhere within 3/4 mile or so of the station on residential streets? (I figure the immediate vicinity is off limits or metered, but I was wondering about a little further out.) Otherwise, I don't know realistically how to get to the station.
You'll get a middle seat in Larchmont, but not standing-room. There isn't a wait list of our station. You might have to do the meters, but you'll get something. We started at meter and were in the town lot within about 2 months.
