I just started working in NJ, right over the tappan zee bridge by Piermont, NY and just over border to NJ. I currently live in CT but closer to Fairfield and that is too far to drive. I need to find an apartment closer to my job. I would like to find a fun, hip, somewhat young place to live since I am in my mid to late 20s. Is there any other cute artsy town around this area? I am open to any bordering towns... Just so long that it is within 30 miles of tappan, ny. The closer the better.
Thanks!

NYC. Period.

DO NOT live in Westchester if you are single and under age 45.

OMG. You are insane. Commuting from NYC to Piermont?!? You seriously need to get off this NYC-bandwagon for everyone. Sometimes it just does NOT work for people. Sheesh. I know so many twentysomethings in Westchester because they actually WORK in Westchester (or Rockland, or Fairfield). NYC is NOT for everyone, and there are lots of twentysomethings here.

OP: if you're looking to meet people, please DM me. Do not listen to this guy! He doesn't know what he's talking about. I'm *actually* a twentysomething in Westchester.

Regarding your actual question: Tarrytown is very nice, and you are reverse commuting across the bridge which means it will not be difficult at all. Nyack is nice, but kind of isolated. White Plains would also be a good option. Again, you are going against the commuting traffic into NYC, so that wouldn't be an issue.
