I've been a Sprint Cell phone user for the past 4 years but the coverage in Hastings-on-Hudson is not the best and worst than in the past, especially indoors.I had Verizon before that but it was also not very good indoors.
I'm considering switching and maybe to to a prepaid plan.
Can anybody give me feedback on coverage in the Hastings / lower Westchester area for various Cell phone providers.
Basically I just want a reliable provider to make and receive calls.

Thanks

I was in Mamaroneck when I had to drop Sprint because the coverage was so bad. I have ATT now and have very few issues (except for Sandy obviously), but can't speak for the others.

Generally Verizon can't be beat for voice reception (you are not asking for data I noticed). ATT is OK outdoors, but you will have reception issues in some spots indoors because of its poorer building penetration vs. Verizon. Reception also depends on the handset you are using. If I was to generalize - Motorola phones are generally above average when it comes to getting and maintaining a signal. iPhone 5 is even better at maintaining a voice call.

Every carrier offers 14-day trial. My approach would be to buy two identical phones (iPhone 5 would be the best for this) on ATT and Verizon and carry them with you everywhere you go, then you keep one after two weeks. It sounds like a bit of a hassle, but you are committing to 2 years on the network and if the reception is not good where you use it most often you are screwed.

That explains why I have had problems with my phone since we moved here!

It may be Sprint more than your location. Southern Westchester has a large, dense population so it generally has rock-solid cell coverage. T-Mobile used to be the one with the most "dead spots" here, but they have greatly improved. Generally Verizon is known for the best reception.
