Are there are unique or interesting animals that can be found wild in the northern part of the county that are rare elsewhere? Like foxes, coyotes, turkey vultures, chipmunks, etc...?

In addition to the hordes of deer, there are lots of wild turkeys, hedgehogs, turkey vultures, assorted birds of prey, geese, chipmunks, skunk, racoons, and some foxes and coyotes. Few things make me happier than looking out my window and seeing the deer and the wild turkeys cavorting.

None of those creatures is rare or unique anywhere in the northeast. All are commonplace as soon as you get out of the city. In fact, I've seen most of them on LI too. Especially the vultures.

Where exactly? I have lived on LI all my life and I have never seen one vulture.

Additionally, are there any bears in northern Westchester?

True enough. There are far more here than in southern Westchester, but none are rare or unique--unless you're a city boy like me.

Yes, Black bears are also in Westchester county. They have recently been spotted in Pound Ridge, North Castle and Armonk.

How about introducing predators that can control the population - like siberian tigers?
