Looking for help if someone can provide me with some details. We are a young couple looking to start a family, looking for a house for under $600k with reasonable taxes (in Westchester standards) that is commutable to NYC. So far it looks like Pleasantville and Mamaroneck. Does anyone understand the parking situation in Mamaroneck? Also, are there any flat backyards in Pleasantville?

Check also where these 600K homes are located in the neighborhood and if they're prone to flooding. Look to see if they are at the bottom of a mountain, near a brook/pond or if there is a dip in the lot.

There are MNRR concession parking lots (right next to Mamaroneck station) and there are Mamaroneck village parking lots which are just a hundred yards or so further away. I understand the first have a wait list (I do not know how long) but the latter do not. The bike racks are another matter - always full. They need to put up some new ones because by the looks of things cycling is increasing.

I would also really see where those are located. When we looked 2 years ago (when prices were a bit lower) we had the same budget and we found nothing in either of those towns. A couple in Pleasantville but they were on one of the busiest streets in town. We weren't okay with that but perhaps you are.
