Relocating to the Westchester County (Mamaroneck, Pelham: apartments, for rent, condo)

Hi Everyone,

My Husband and I will be relocating to Westchester County after he finishes his tour. We are looking for an area that is would have an easy commute to the city, safe and family orientated.

We are active people and love to dance, workout, and eat out with family and friends. We will be looking to rent a two to three bedroom apartment until we are certain that the area is exactly what we are looking for.
After which we will begin looking for a condo.

Any suggestions of places in Westchester County that would be considered safe, family friendly, not too pricey, diverse, and have plenty of activities for everyone in the family to get into. Also if you could send price estimates of the locations that you suggest would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't have kids in school, Tarrytown would be a good option to rent. It has restaurants, bars, shops, a live theater/entertainment and YMCA for your workout. By the time your kids get to school, your priorities would have changed and you can start looking at the other towns.

It would be helpful if you provided a range of what you're looking to spend - both for renting and for buying.

Look into Dobbs Ferry (situated on the Hudson River, and not to expensive); also Mamaroneck and Larchmont have plenty of apartments.
