There are after-school activities - but they are all club or sports-based, and they do not occur every week day. Why don't they provide it? Costs - every year the budget is a consideration (though you will see that Rye Neck budgets have a long history of being approved each year by the community). I suspect that middle school is seen as an age when children are considered old enough to be at home alone for a couple of hours? Given the small size of the district no home is too far from the school, and the streets are very safe. However, the school library is open till later and well-equipped and available for homeworkers...
Its always tough when both parents are working or a single parent working. Good luck!
