I just bougth a coop on White Oak Street, by the park, right across from Iona College. How is the area there? How safe is it? I have a 6 year old child, so safety is #1 for us. Thank you very much

Now whats up with trying to trash someone from the Midwest? Sure that might go down in Brooklyn/Queens, but we're talking about Westchester here. Furthermore you've got 2 strikes against you: 1) you're a foreigner, 2) you're from France. So you can't go talking shi*t like that. Its completely unacceptable. I suggest you go back to eating coq au vin or drinking wine or something.
Ok I wasn't trashing anyone in fact i meant to be general when i said what i did but anyway i was just stating the idea that this person was being somewhat paranoid... simple as that. Yes I'm a foreigner whats your point? this whole country is based off on foreigners coming here, second i'll talk as much as i please, after all the first amendment here applies to everyone living here so get a grip. and i like the whole french generalization even though i don't fit the category at all, now i suggest you keep eating your greasy fast food ok?

Downtown Yonkers is mostly gritty, poor, and rundown (although they are building up a new luxury development like in White Plains and New Rochelle, so it might get cleaned up in the future). However the vast majority of neighborhoods in Yonkers are nice middle-class places to live. These parts of suburban Yonkers are affordable and safe.
and no i wasn't trashing Yonkers at all lol..... clearly you have misunderstood what i was trying to say, i said that its one of the most recognized or rather talked about areas for crime in westchester (news 12, newspapers, etc) and yes i know there are rich areas just as much as there are run down areas.... but thats everywhere! so again i'm not trashing yonkers as i have been there many times.

I don't dislike having police officers but..... the fact that there is more police officers now then there should ever be is completely crazy! if anything there should be more of them in places thats ACTUALLY needed (parts of Bronx, and other places as such)and then you have all these cameras watching your every little move... i mean wtf is this 1984?? it just all seems so Orwelian to me and so i'll say it again we are living in a police state with a fascist regime. Umm you're just a paranoid frenchman.

French people are barely human anyways, so your opinions don't really count.

I suggest you take a look at this video, it basically sums up my views on France:

Cool New Rochelle honest view from a resident!

Yes, it's true that New Rochelle Northside is excellent to live. Downtown area is slowwwwlyyyy getting better. The security at night is questionable. Definitely not a violent place, but questionable people around. Though it's getting better with the new buildings, the infrastructure is still slow. New Rochelle needs better quality shopping area. We are still waiting for a Mall with nice stores. North Avenue is despicable. The area in front of Iona College is nice, but pass Iona area, all the way to Downtown is really bad. Right in front of the City Hall, there is a non-existent decent shopping area. Only bad businesses: awlful liquor stores, close down florist shop, horrible looking store kind worship houses, 99c stores, mexican, chinese and caribbean food cantinas(not really quality restaurants), awful launderetes, bad pizza stores, Kentucky Fried Chicken and MacDonald's need renovation and better service, bad hairdressers and nail salons, cell phone stores that open and close in a short period of time, cheap bars and needless to say awful nightclubs that only bring the wrong crowd. Downtown has a shopping area only directed to spanish people. You can call it Spanish town. Lots of small restaurants sprouting, some good, most not so good, but too many! We need variety. Bring in other kind of cuisines like Greek, French, (not more Italian, Mexican and Kosher!). We need nice big Steakhouses too. We don't want cheap franchises and cheap new stores. Nobody thought about Bearded Papas (they are wonderful) and would make a difference to New Rochelle. Other franchises we need are Ann Taylor, Starbucks, Barnes and Nobles, Borders, PetCo, Pet Goods, really good quality Delicatessens selling European goods, exquisit and sophisticated restaurants. While New Rochelle shopping area doesn't change, people will move here, stay for a while and move somewhere else. There's no commercial structure to support the new real state developments. Downtown and North Avenue are still not nice areas to stroll around, shopping, socializing. It's just a cheaper comute to the city, but not a joyful place to live yet. Hope the new Mayor does something about it. Just a footnote: Enough houses of worship in New Rochelle! There are over 40! Including the sinagogues in the North End! Also they should put up the price at the beach and parking around the area! This way we would have a better selection of people, like it happens in Rye! And we also want nice dog parks!

Paranoid...? no, i'm just being realistic and pointing out the things that i see from different countries i go to and thanks, i could care less what you think, you have things completely mixed up.... i consider this government inhuman for the way this regime treats its soldiers, and the people of america, now take a look at my videos and learn something new or is that too hard for an "educated" person like you to understand?....killing millions of people all over the world and spreading your so called "democracy" by forcing democracy onto others isn't exactly the right thing to do. One of the major problems with america is you look and point fingers at anyone that doesn't agree with your "war on terror" and then call them terrorists, when the true terrorists terrorizing the world is you, where were the wmd's?? O and i happen to know what real freedom is, i don't let myself be brainwashed by the mainstream media who have an agenda of not mentioning the real issues at hand, there are many americans who feel the same way i do so don't be foolish at least look into the facts...
