Does anyone have an idea as to what a painter would charge to paint the interior of a 2,400 square foot house and how long it should take?

It depends on what shape the house is in. If it's at least OK shape, I'd give them a week. They may be able to do it more quickly. But, a week should be fine. Your price will vary depending on paint and the crew. An average price for, let's say B. Moore type paint, might be around $5,000, if you're lucky, and don't have a lot of trim work.

We just had a 2400 sf home painted. Entire interior, including all trim and doors. We used Benjamin Moore Aura paint for walls (which adds a bit to the cost). Quotes ranged from $8600-10,500.

Oh and the walls were in pretty good shape. That did include wallpaper removal in the kitchen.

Yes I think it would be a little higher than 5K, probsbly more like 7-10k. I would get a few estimates.

It depends on the job.. whether trim or not, wallpaper removal or not, what the base is.

We just had about 1700 square feet painted (this included a decent amount of trim and window frames, as well as a stairway and landing) and it cost about $4000. This was done by a guy who had done some plastering and painting around some recently installed light fixtures where an electrician had to open the ceiling up quite a bit to fix old wiring - he'd done a good job so we knew he could handle this job and might be a little less expensive, which turned out to be correct.

Well, my 3,500 sq. foot house was $5,000, although I skipped a couple of rooms, and didn't do the trim.

There are so many variables in painting jobs. The detail work, the paints you chose, how much work is needed to prime or otherwise ready the walls for paint ...

We have used Frank from Paint 4 Perfection | NY Painting Contractor | Westchester County Painting Services several times on our house and on some high end rental properties and have been very pleased. I suspect it will be in the 5k to 8k range, but can be much higher. One time when we had a home with walls with incredibly bright colors and some damage to the walls, it was 3k just to get the place to a position where it could be painted. Best of luck to you.
