Yes. I had the pain au chocolate. It didn't blow me away, and since my gravitational pull is closer to Bradley's, I think that I will remain a regular there.

I wish we had Bronxville's french bakery, Chantilly. Now those are some way yummy patisserie...
Well I might give it a whirl. I've not tried Chantilly.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who though La Provencal was a bit dead. Was the same way for us too when we went there! Typically we have brunch at diners, but we are young and broke! Haha. We tend to go out to dinners more often, and I feel like things are more "hoppin'" at that time of day.

Tres gauche!
hmm... I don't claim to be even somewhat good at speaking French these days, so I checked my ancient Bantam French-English Dictionary. Patisserie is used both for the thing you eat (pastry) and the place it is made (pastry shop).

Thanks for all the recommendations! We're heading to Mamaroneck again this Saturday and, hopefully, will have a more positive dinner experience (sans the kids this time!) Fiamma looks great but doesn't look like they take reservations. Any thoughts on 360 American Grille?

360 American Grill is a new place, hasn't been open long. We ate there once with the kids and the service was very friendly. Food was generally average but the burger was very good. (You have to know where you are when ordering, ya know???)

My favorite on the Avenue is still Frankie and Fanucci's, but that's only because I LOVE pizza and I'm easy to please (not that it's in any way bad). I have several friends who recommend Gin Ban. And there's always Smash Burger and Cherry Tree frozen yogurt at the top of the Ave if you have the kids with you.

No comparison between LaFiamma - worth a good NYT review - and American grille - generic standard place.
