I think most people in Westchester attended more prestigious type schools and perhaps Mount St. Mary maybe part of that list, I don't know much about them. In my opinion I would send my child to either Virginia Tech or the United Sates Air Force. Those options are better for technical training I believe and with the cost of private schools nowadays perhaps it would better to look at the state colleges like SUNY. Best school for medicine is the University of Florida, Shands is a very good health system.

Most med students attend one of the Ivys for undergrad. Competition is stiff but its not unheard to get a med school acceptance as a non-Ivy grad. Your child will need to do lots of healthcare related extracurriculars- hospital volunteer, EMT, medical research, things of that nature ontop of having top notch science grades and MCATS.

ETA: According to the rankings Harvard is the #1 med school. University of Florida comes in at 51.

Harvard is not a realistic goal for most.

Agreed, however medical schools in general have very rigorous admissions. A number of American students attend schools in the Caribbean as US schools are highly competitive. And expensive. Most recent med school grads have close to $200,000 in loans between med school añd undergrad tuitions.
