This is fun to read just after you read my other quote from him.
You seem to imply that there is a discrepancy in my comments, but actually there is not. I despise when people make generalizations and state them as fact. That has nothing to do with spouting bias. I am a big snob and I love to spout my bias, but I never pretend that it is anything but that.
I realize that you don't have a background in educational pedagogy, but we have something we teach the first graders called close reading in which they are taught to look for text evidence to determine important things such as the author's purpose. Looking at my post that you quated, the use of the term "I think" shows the reader that what follows is an opinion based on personal bias, and therefore not to be confused with a statement of fact.
Yes indeed! As a resident of Pound Ridge I guess I'm one of "those people." So, dma1250, it's best that you stay on your side of I-684 and we stay on ours.
Kletterman, I enjoy visiting your side of the tracks, I just wouldn't want to live there.

Thank you for the first grade lesson. I'm not from Yorktown so I need extra help.
In conclusion, you love Yorktown and love to "spout your bias" and that's great. You should be ecstatic that you found the perfect town for you and your family. For me and my family, the perfect town is Katonah and we love living there. But we are different from you and there is nothing wrong with that.
But know that just like you spout your bias about other towns, other people will always spout their own bias about your town. Some people will say "I think", and others will just state things without thinking about the text evidence (they must not be from Yorktown either). Whether or not it's fact, they will still spout it, just like you do.
Yes, people will sometimes spout their personal bias and pretend that it is fact, but they shouldn't. And when they do, someone should call them out for it and clarify that what they stated is just personal bias. Which is what I did in this thread. You're welcome.
Close reading and using text evidence is the primary focus of the new ELA Common Core State Standards that determine curricula (and assessments) at all grades in New York State and practically every state other than Texas. I'm sure your kids are being instructed in it, so you might want to ask them for some guidance.
Excellent. You have been a tremendous help. Keep up the great detective work.
I will certainly ask my 6 month old son for his thoughts about the latest ELA Common Core State Standards at his school. Maybe we can transfer him to the Yorktown district for after school extra credit.

You can't pretend something is a fact. Its either a fact or its opinon. In my opinion you dont qualify as a snob if you live in Yorktown.
I think I used to love Katonah more than the village of Armonk but I think with the new Armonk Town Square I think I prefer Armonk. .
Armonk is a tough call. I guess you mean the part EAST of 684? Othewise you might as well be in Mt Kisco!
