The same that happened to dodos, ice boxes and steam trains.
I just think it's an ostentatious display.
Nearly all of the middle class and upper middle class families I know don't spend this kind of money on parties (spread out between Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Fairfield counties).
No it was at a kids party place with activities, sporting events...with food for kids AND adults, face painting person, magician, party favors, and tip...about 40 kids - well over 2k
Holy crap! I must be a bad parent. My kids birthday parties are a couple of hundred dollars at most. I wouldn't pay 2k+ for my kids birthday parties. And between my wife and I, we make good money. That money would be used for more useful things.
It doesn't take very much. Suppose you want to take the kids to iFly (the indoor skydiving place) for the birthday party. That starts at $800, before you find out that you're paying more because you have more than the assumed number of kids (12), and you want to buy the nearly mandatory extras. Now you're in the $1500 range. Then you buy the goodie bags and the food. You get pretty close quickly.
I'm also pretty sure that magician is actually a more expensive performer than your stripper.
I don't know strippers can make money disappear rather quickly.

So they make a habit of showing the receipts? Your friends.
Or is that a statistic-made-up-for-internet-debate type fact.

Wow.
You'll have to tell me how you did that for that many people for so cheap.
We're starting to back down the number of invitees bc of how expensive things are.
And our parties are at home.
And we don't even live in Papayaland. Or Chappiewappie. Or wherever you said.
