I just think it's an ostentatious display.

Nearly all of the middle class and upper middle class families I know don't spend this kind of money on parties (spread out between Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Fairfield counties).

We actually did that last year at my son's request. He wanted just a few friends over and they had activities and had pizza. The kids loved it!

Holy crap! I must be a bad parent. My kids birthday parties are a couple of hundred dollars at most. I wouldn't pay 2k+ for my kids birthday parties. And between my wife and I, we make good money. That money would be used for more useful things.

Now you're in the $1500 range. Then you buy the goodie bags and the food. You get pretty close quickly.

I don't know strippers can make money disappear rather quickly.

When our grandbaby turned 2 we invited a few friends, fired up the grill, had a nice setting at the picnic table, and that was that.

So they make a habit of showing the receipts? Your friends.

Or is that a statistic-made-up-for-internet-debate type fact.

Wow.
You'll have to tell me how you did that for that many people for so cheap.
We're starting to back down the number of invitees bc of how expensive things are.
And our parties are at home.
And we don't even live in Papayaland. Or Chappiewappie. Or wherever you said.
