Would it be too isolating for a single person to live in Pound Ridge? I'm trying to move closer to my job in Greenwich and there is an option in PR. I like nature and hiking but wondering if it would be too isolating?

Yes, very isolating I think. You're going to be driving to get to any kind of friends and nightlife and it's likely going to be very hard to get people coming to visit you, especially after dark. Go to Stamford. The outdoors is still pretty close and there's a lot going on.

Thanks. I'm always attracted to these types of places. I should probably be in Western Mass. or Burlington, VT, which has nature but is also progressive and has a lot going on. I think northern Westchester is mostly families but it's so beautiful in parts.

Exactly. Pound Ridge is certainly progressive but few people and most of them are families.

I lived in Westchester for almost seven years as a single person, and I agree that Pound Ridge would be way too isolated. Somewhere like Mt. Kisco would be better, or like the other poster wrote, Stamford. Tarrytown would definitely not be closer to Greenwich, but you'd get a nice mix of social life/outdoors, especially with Rockefeller Preserve so close by.

But what the hell is the point of Westchester - and NY income tax - if you work in CT? FORGET WESTCHESTER. LOOK AT CT.

Kletterman, that's what my father keeps telling me (he's an accountant). You are right. it's just that Fairfield County is so congested. It looks like they've just built all over the place.

They have. So that's your choice: ([less congestion]=[isolation])OR([more congestion]=[less isolation])
You could look at Mt Kisco, that's not as remote.

I've looked at MK--very expensive. I'm in Northern Westchester now but close to the river. It's not as remote as Pound Ridge. I am spoiled by the beauty of it, but it's very far from my day job. It's killing my car. I know of some options in downtown Stamford. Thanks Kletterman.

Good move. FWIW, if you think MK is expensive, PR is much worse. Also very few legal rentals if that's what you had in mind.
