I know Katonah schools are excellent, but what about Somers and Yorktown? How do they compare and is one better than the other? Academics is def the most important but sports are also important to us. Does one district have a better or wider variety sports and extracurricular program? Any input would be appreciated.

For Yorktown, you need to clarify if you mean Yorktown Central District (which covers Yorktown Heights and southern Yorktown) or Lakeland, which covers northern Yorktown. YCSD is excellent. We loved the primary and elementary schools and they did a great job of offering differentiated instruction to meets kids needs, be it more support or more challenge. The middle school is one of the few Blue Ribbon middle schools in the county and rates a 10 on greatschools.com. The high school rates a 9 and is known for excellent AP programs, especially science and technology programs with the local IBM. The school has loads of sports.

Thanks! I didn't know Yorktown was divided into two school districts. We would want to be in southern Yorktown anyway and clearly that seems like that's where the better schools are.

Somers High School has had and continues to have a huge drug problem. You should seriously reconsider any move to that town. Just "google" Somers + drugs or heroin and check the results...teen overdoses have been the norm for almost ten years. The school administrators and town officials tend to keep a lid on this dirty little secret.
