Hello - I'm a location scout working on a film and am looking throughout the NY area for a nice old suburban house that may be a type of "holdout," as developers/chains came into the neighborhood. The house should be nice, but not too nice. But the main thing is that it should be right next to a chain or chain stores like CVS, Starbucks, etc. I don't mean around the corner, I mean right next to an older suburban house. Have you seen this in your neighborhood or throughout your travels? Might you have any suggestions on where I might be able to find this? Anything I can checkout with Google streetview would be really appreciated!
I forgot to mention, it's important that the home has a front and back yard (with grass) and that there is a street in front that is either a two way street or a large enough one way street that we could make to appear to be two way. thanks for any help!
My job is to find actual locations and to find the most production value within actual locations, as possible. It's not my decision when CGI is used, and when it isn't. Most films and tv shows have to use actual locations for most of what we do, as the other poster mentioned, it would be ridiculously expensive to use CGI for everything. Not to mention the fact that I do believe quite a bit of realness is lost when CGI is used. Anyway, some folks in the Long Island and NYC forums have been very responsive, so I'm hoping Westchester County people can help! I know there are some decent options like this up there in Westchester and Yonkers, etc, so I'm really hoping some folks may have some ideas that they've seen throughout their travels, which I can then followup on and tried to find the owner, get more extensive photos, etc. Thanks!
There are 3 or 4 houses on Waller Ave in White Plains (between Livingston and Carhart) that match most of what you are describing and backup to a CVS...though I'm not sure the contrast is as sharp as what you are going for. There are also houses matching your description on Westmoreland Ave in White Plains (between Tibbits and Lafayette) that are next door to a new Westy's Self Storage

Thank you! I'll look into this. And FYI, it doesn't necessarily have to be a "chain" per se, but the house should just feel like a nice older (maybe build in the 50's, or earlier) suburban house, with a nice front and back yard, in the middle of some commercial development...
