1. Does it get congested around the train station in the mornings? I heard that it may become a 5 minute wait in the evenings to get out of the station. I was wondering if there is something similar in the morning that would require to leave 5 minutes earlier.
2. Any specific experiences on Random Farms area would be appreciated. I noticed that recent sales in the area are at a discount to the overall Chappaqua (on a $/sqft basis - I know it is not the best measure). Is there a specific reason?
Thank you very much in advance for sharing your experience and opinions.
I don't live there but my friend from Chappaqua and I catch the same train at night once in a while. He has mentioned that the morning trip to the train isn't too bad. And that makes sense because even if you are catching the same train, you aren't all going to arrive at the exact same time, unlike at night when everyone is running for their car. He has waited for 10 minutes or more to get out of the lot.
To give you an example, I live in the Katonah village and walk home (3 stops after Chappaqua) and can arrive home before he does. (He's close to the Random Farms area).
I don't have any experience with Random Farms, but I'm sure someone will be able to chime in.
1. Mornings, no issues. For later trains, you might have to walk from the outer part of the lot, but no traffic congestion in my experience.
2. Evenings - on the express trains, yeah, you might have a 5 min wait getting out of the station (typically around the 630-7pm arrivals, not the later ones, and I'm not familiar enough with the earlier arrivals to comment on them), but they have a traffic guard help ease the flow up until 7 or 730pm each night. Bottomline, it's manageable for me, but everyone has their tipping point.
Typically there is a local that leaves GC ~4min after the express in the evenings, you get in something like 8-10 min later, but there is no traffic congestion. So if you just want to avoid sitting still waiting to get out and don't mind getting home a few minutes later, then this is an option.
I'd add that Monday's are busier than Fridays... and summer is a breeze.
I always have a seat, which when coming from the city/subways, is a much appreciated facet of the commute
I used to live there. Honestly, the schools may be amazing but the people there can be really mean. They're either kind or they're really snobby, there's no in between.
