Hello everyone, I am looking for to relocate my life and business to westchester and want your help.

I have read countless threads on affluent towns and have a few more questions.

I plan on relocating my business and buying a home there.

I have narrowed my area to be lower east westchester, like pelham, new rochelle, Bronxville, larchmont, open to a few more areas. I am looking for semi affluent diverse area.

How are people toward asians in these area? I have read that these towns are old money and I am worried that may affect my business being asian. How welcoming are these areas toward minorities? Not to they are not welcoming but will I have a disadvantage? I am born and raised in NYC, I am American educated and my clients are affluent professionals all over. But being in NYC, there are places that are not generally accepting of minorities moving into their town.

Other concerns...

how is parking for more than 8 hrs.
how is the crime in these areas?
how is the downtown area? Are there many businesses and shoppers?
Which area is best for me?
I also will travel into midtown a lot to meet clients.

thanks.

What kind of business are you operating? There is an H-Mart in Hartsdale so being Asian will not raise objections in and of itself. Consider though that your taxes could be higher which could eat into your costs.

Based on your preferences and concerns, I would highly recommend areas such as Hartsdale and Edgemont. These are the most popular areas and are very welcoming.

I second Hartsdale specifically. Great commercial areas in and around the town. Near transportation. Really safe and friendly. Not to mention there is a visible Asian presense both commercially and residential.

I am a CPA and i and looking to open to move into an office space there, most customers would be from NYC and Manhattan, but i am looking for local clients as well.

I am looking to be part of the community, participate in local events and become a influential member of the community. Basically, i am looking to move somewhere and help out the community as well as live and have a career.

Business would not be retail but more office 2nd,3rd floor type, i would usually take the metro north into the city to meet clients or all over NYC and Nassau County.

Looking to at least establish a local market as well, since i would like to root down and not travel as much.

I will look into hartsdale and edgemont, but i am looking for areas 30-50 mins from midtown.

Are there any other suggestions?

Also, i am not looking specifically for Asian areas, but just areas who are accepting and welcoming of minorities.

You can cast a pretty big net in Yonkers. It's a super diverse town making aggressive strides to become the "go to" city outside of NYC. Plus there are plenty of great areas to live and work. Google "Generation Yonkers" to see where the city is headed.

I really can't think of an area in Westchester where Asians are not welcome.

I have read there is some resentment toward Asians in certain towns in Long Island because the Asians are moving out of Queens and "taking over." But Asians are a relatively small percentage of the population in Westchester. I doubt there is a community that is close to being 10% Asian.

As a previous poster stated, check out the H-Mart on Central Avenue in Hartsdale.

Hartsdale and Scarsdale/Edgemont both have an Asian population. Both are less than 40 mins to GCT.

Hartsdale is part of the Greenburgh school system, which is not very good, so if you have kids you may want to take that into account.

Why not consider White Plains? The express train will get you into GCT in 35 minutes. If Asian markets are a factor, downtown WP has one of the largest ones in Westchester (Kam Sen).
