Beautiful amenity-rich dwelling almost on the Hudson River, tons of indoor parking and a 2 bedroom apartment with a lot of space near buses, trains to NYC for under $1350.
Is this in a bad neighborhood? Upcoming neighborhood?
Its on Riverdale Avenue and Prospect in downtown Yonkers.
Have you spent any time there? I would recommend doing so prior to moving there.
If I'm thinking of the building you are talking about (building 47), there is a liquor store on the street level, and you will see people sitting out front all hours of the day.
Check out the crime statistics for that area and the schools (apart from Pearls, which is a selective school), and you will get a more complete picture of that part of town.
So, yes, there is a catch.
If you look further up the river, north of the Hudson River Museum, then it is far safer and quieter. Rents are a bit more, but it is far nicer.
